So the WordPress daily prompt wants to know what we could be considered expert in.
Hah.
I’m pretty much an expert on psychology, especially anything to do with clinical work or teaching it. I started reading Freud in middle school (no lie) trying to figure out what made my wack family tick, and was hooked. I majored in it* (B.S. 1976, Guilford College in Greensboro NC), got a masters in counseling (M.Ed., Georgia State University 1981), another masters (an M.S. in clinical psych) and a doctorate (Psy.D. in clinical, Georgia School of Professional Psychology, 1997). I wrote my thesis on traumatic memory, and that’s a lot of what I dealt with in clinical practice for 30 years. I’ve been licensed as a counselor and a clinical psychologist, and I’ve taught five or so courses at Kennesaw State University over the past 27 years, including ethics, personality, introductory psych, clinical and counseling psych, and current issues in psych.
At my age, and given the current political situation, I can see my teaching career (I retired from clinical in 2014) coming to an end sooner rather than later. So I’m planning a series of ‘classes’ here in WordPress, pretty much mirroring what I do at school. Come back and check it out, starting August 1st: Posts will cover everything from academic success to Zen before we’re done!
*almost by accident, but that’s another story for another day.
